MONITORING M & R COSTS--THE ZIM SOLUTION
Up until a few years ago Zim Container Services undertook manually the control and processing of maintenance and repair invoices in North America. The company found, however, this was a time consuming system and did not allow good control of expenditure. To improve this situation, Zim Container Services North America Data Processing and Maintenance and Repair Departments developed a computer program based on repair invoices being input for processing and payment. Various checks are performed by computer to verify validity of an invoice. The system also allows access to repair history, statistical budget information and analysis of repairs and maintenance. In this article, maintenance and repair manager for Zim Container Service outlines the development of the system and its advantages.
