PANAMA CANAL'S SCHOTTEL TUGS H. BURGESS AND M.L. WALKER SET NEW HORIZONS IN TUG DESIGN AND MANOEUVRABILITY

Before designing a new class of tug to operate on the Panama Canal, the regulatory authorities laid down their own requirements, and subsequently referred to the European methods of ship handling. This paper discusses the vessels that were finally designed. Order from BSRA as No. 54,300.
