LINEAR ANALYSIS OF INTERACTION PROBLEMS IN OFFSHORE PLATFORMS

This paper examines the problems of fluid-structure and soil-structure interaction for bottom supported platforms. The structures may be "stiff" or "compliant", but it is assumed that their behavior may be described by linear dynamics theory. A modal analysis with a frequency domain computation is used. Typical results are given for gravity platforms, including the effects of three dimensional added mass and damping and a layered soil.
