6,600 CUBIC METER SIDE CASTING TRAILING SUCTION HOPPER DREDGER "HANG JUN 6001" AND "HANG JUN 6002" FOR CHINA NATIONAL MACHINERY IMPORT AND EXPORT CORPORATION, THE PEOPLES REPUBLIC OF CHINA

The 6,600 cubic meter side casting trailing suction "Hang Jun 6001" and "Hang Jun 6002" were constructed by IHI Aioi Shipyard, and delivered to China National Machinery Import & Export Corporation of The People's Republic of China in February, 1980. These ships are expected to be used in dredging work of harbors and rivers in China, especially the Yangtze River. They will carry out dredging operations with four diesel driven dredge pumps working simultaneously, by using a dragarm on each side and two drag ladders in the ladder wells. They are able to either load the dredged materials in the hopper or discharge the dredged materials to a distance of more than 100 m from the ship's side via a discharge boom capable of rotating 180 degrees. They are provided with many modern instruments for dredging work such as a mud concentration meter and automatic pump vacuum control equipment, etc. This paper introduces an outline of the "Hang Jun 6001" and "Hang Jun 6002".
