EXTRACTION AND PROPORTIONING OF SBS POLYMER IN BITUMEN
EXTRACTION ET DOSAGE DU POLYMERE SBS DANS LES BITUMES
Sbs polymer was extracted from a bituminous mixture according to two methods: (1) precipitation of the polymer by means of a non-solvent added in very accurate proportions to a solution of bitumen-polymer mixture. Existing interactions between the polymer and asphaltenes are demonstrated; (2) use of a solvent in which asphaltenes are insoluble and the sbs polymer soluble. The bitumen-polymer mixture can be fractionated into its constituents: asphaltenes-maltenes-sbs. The two methods enable the proportion of sbs present in the material to be determined and give the possibility of subsequent analysis of the extracted sbs. (TRRL)
