BLAST FURNACE AND STEEL SLAG AS STABILIZED ROAD CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL
RAUTA- JA TERASTEOLLISUUDEN KUONAT SITOUTUVANA TIENRAKENNUS- MATERIAALINA
The report deals with the use of blast furnace slag as a stabilized soil cement-like material in road construction. The strength development of various mixtures of blast furnace slags and binders or additives was followed. The most widely used binder was ground granulated blast furnace slag. Results from a test road were very positive. A mixture of aircooled and ground granulated slag, named kovalit, was acting as a base layer of a road. Some samples were also made from steel slag. Phosphogypsum proved to be the most suitable activator with steel slag and ground granulated slag as a binder. (TRRL)
