THE TRICASTIN BRIDGE ON THE DONZERE CANAL

LE PONT DU TRICASTIN SUR LE CANAL DE DONZERE

The authors give a general description of the structure: history, selection of the alternative chosen, development of the plan. They give the main structural and design characteristics: continuous girders with 3 symmetrical spans simply resting on 4 bearings, 2 piers and 2 abutments. The length of the central span is 142,50 M, the total length of the structure 203 M. The deck consists of a prestressed lightweight concrete box girder varying in height with two webs having a total width of 10 M. The constructional aspects particular to the bridge are described. Mention is made of the lightweight concrete and characteristics required from the lightweight aggregates and concrete, concrete mix-design, acceptance tests, laying, results obtained. Site progress is briefly noted. (TRRL)
