CONTINUITY OF ENERGY SUPPLY OF ELECTRONIC COMPUTERS FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL

The solution of the problem of continuity of feed of the equipment is fundamental to guarantee the reliability of a railway traffic control plant. In the case of an operational centre using electronic computers in real time, there can be admitted feed discontinuities only of around some thousandths of a second, and thus so-called "absolute continuity" systems have to be used. The Author makes a comparison between the different techniques of of these systems, indicating the necessary evaluations and the criteria of choice in order to establish, in the various cases, the characteristics and the configuration of the continuity generating set which can be adopted. With reference to a traffic control centre of a junction, mention is also made of experiments carried out with the aim of checking the performance of a static set of the latest "generations".
