RIGID PAVEMENTS FOR AIRPORTS (PARTS 1 & 2)

PAVIMENTOS RIGIDOS DE AEROPUERTOS (PARTES 1 Y 2)

The use of rigid pavements in airports is widely spread, be it for landing runways or heating and parking areas. The results obtained have been excellent. Part 1 describes the behaviour of the main commercial aircrafts and presents a study of the materials and their utilization to obtain a surfacing fulfilling the specifications in the guidelines for the design and construction of reinforced concrete structures (EH-73). Part 2 deals with design thicknesses. The influence of Poisson's ratio is studied together with that of the roadbase and temperature in the case of a single aircraft wheel or all wheels of the undercarriage. An analysis is also presented of the influence of traffic on the surfacing, strengthening of the latter from the point of view of new and existing surfacings and the problem of the joints. (TRRL)
