MARINE TERMINAL FOR EXPORTATION OF SLURRIED COAL

A feasibility study of a potential slurry transport system which could ship up to 10 million tons of Western U.S. coal annually to the Far East has recently been completed. A coal export terminal is an integral part of this system. The terminal facility is to be located on the West Coast of the United States. An analysis of alternative terminal sites is presented. The conceptual designs of conventional bulk handling and slurry terminals are presented. Process flow diagrams for both types of terminal facilities are developed. The relative costs of the alternative terminal systems are presented.
