COMMERCIAL TEST RESULTS ON AUTOMATED MARITIME TELEPHONE SYSTEM

Commercial tests on the Automated Maritime Telephone System were carried out over all coastal areas around Japan, offering commercial services for approximately 500 customers. This system is capable of automatic- call-connection by subscriber dialing between ship and land subscribers, or between one ship and another. Tests were carried out on equipment in this system, overall system performances and service area extent. Results show that this system meets all design objectives and offers satisfactory service quality. It is expected that the new system will satisfy the growing demands for maritime telephone use.
