MARINE ATMOSPHERES PROVIDE A TOUGH TEST FOR PROTECTIVE PAINT SYSTEMS

The marine environment is probably the toughest test for any protective paint system. The paint systems which have proved most successful in such demanding conditions are those that can combine durability with practical application. This article highlights one such established system -- chlorinated rubber for marine paint manufacture. Applications of chlorinated rubber paints to ships, offshore structures and land-based structures are briefly discussed. Marine paints based on this resin are relatively easy to apply.
