COMPUTER SIMULATION OF SLOW AND HIGH FREQUENCY MOTIONS AND LOADS OF STATFJORD "A" ARTICULATED LOADING PLATFORM IN IRREGULAR SEA

The computer program NV429, for the calculation of motions and loads on an articulated tower, with and without the effect of a single point moored object, is extended to comprise the case of irregular sea. Calculations have been carried out in the behaviour in irregular sea of the Statfjord "A" Articulated Loading Platform for the survival and operational condition. A statistical analysis of the results is performed. Comparisons have been made with results from model tests. In general we may say that for the analysed variables the dynamical characteristics (significant values and standard deviations) agree quite reasonably with the corresponding experimental values, while the agreement is less good for mean values. Theoretical linearized response amplitudes (transfer functions) compare in general quite well with the corresponding transfer functions from the model tests.
