THE FLUID FLOW AROUND A MANEUVERING TANKER IN RESTRICTED WATER
Using a three-dimensional finite-element analysis and potential flow theory, the fluid flow fields around a tanker after a sway or yaw disturbance are illustrated. The tanker is positioned either on the centerline or near a wall in a canal of uniform rectangular cross-section and the flows existing in two water-depth conditions are compared.
