THE LEGAL ASPECTS PECULIAR TO THE SEA TRANSPORTATION OF LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS. (REPERCUSSIONS ON THE LIABILITIES POSSIBLY INCURRED)

The possible liabilities linked to the sea transportation of liquefied natural gas are systematically considered in the fields of; (I)-contractural liability among the various parties, this, in three sections (seller-buyer, owner-charterer, owner and charterer-port authorities relations), (II)-the liability towards third parties: conditions for the implementation of this liability, application of the national laws and the international conventions, covering of the risks by relevant policies. Then follows an analysis of: the provisions of the international draft conventions (I.M.C.O) with reference to the positive right) mentioned in items I and II`) and to the experience acquired in this field, (III) the respecitve positions of the parties involved in the case of sea transportation of liquefied natural gas with regard to these conventions.
