NOTES ON THE TESTING OF CAR STEERING EQUIPMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH ECE REGULATION 12

ANMERKUNGEN ZU PRUEFUNGEN VON PKW-LENKANLAGEN NACH ECE-212

In Europe passenger cars are tested for passive protection by individual components being statically or dynamically loaded. This method can give rise to considerable problems when the interaction of these components is evaluated. ECE Regulation No 12 deals particularly with the interaction of the steering wheel and occupant movement in a frontal collision. A medium term solution can be achieved by modifying the technical requirements of regulation 12. In the long term a global test which also provides information on the interaction of individual components would be desirable. (TRRL)
