CAR SAFETY BELT FOR HANDICAPPED CHILDREN

Details are given of a car safety belt for handicapped children (Britax Ltd), shown at the exhibition "Progress towards Safer Passenger Cars in the UK", which was opened by Mr. Norman Fowler, Minister of Transport, at the Department of Transport, London SW1P 3EB, on 17 June. The seat, which has BSI approval, is pivoted towards the car door and once secured within the seat and harness the child is swung back into the rear seat. Manufactured in glass fibre and modifiable for a wide range of disabilities, the seat is designed for children weighing 9-45 kg (20-100 lb), the harness and head and lateral supports allowing the seat to grow with the child.
