BOGIE CARS, CURVE MEMORY AND TARGET SHOOT
Swiss Federal Railways have established that bogie cars, after having negotiated a curve, feature a resistance running on the following straight section which is initially higher than the corresponding rolling resistance. This phenomenon is designated as curve memory. Its magnitude has been determined by measurements. For target shooting, the rolling resistance of the individual vehicles is measured precisely within this range so that the phenomenon of curve memory has an adverse effect on the control of the shunting procedure.
