ELECTRICITY, ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING AND RAILWAYS
ELEKTRIZITAET, ELEKTROTECHNIK UND EISENBAHNEN
In the general information, the application of electrical engineering to the railways is the main subject discussed. At the outset it was only used for signalling and telecommunications. The invention of the dynamo brought about a wider application of electrical technology leading to Werner von Siemens' introducing electric traction on the railways. The trials and the failures are described and the different systems of traction current and the present state of knowledge are discussed.
