FLT DEVELOPMENT -- RISING TO BOX HANDLING REQUIREMENTS
Reliability, flexibility and safety are the three essential design prerequisites for a container handling fork lift truck (FLT). As manufacturers strive to achieve these goals, it becomes increasingly evident that there are a growing number of applications in which this type of truck can be employed. Of these, one of the usages which has had a most significant effect on design and manufacturing considerations is the loading and discharging of roll on-roll off (ro-ro) vessels. However, meeting the needs of the terminal operator has still remained a top priority for manufacturers. The article discusses recent trends in this type of equipment, and includes a guide to manufactures of FLT's.
