TIANJIN SIGNALS THE WAY FOR CHINA'S BOX TERMINAL DEVELOPMENT
Early in its new association with the West, China recognized that the establishment of an efficient container system is fundamental to capitalizing on its vast export potential. Since the announcement of this objective, the container handling world has watched with interest as to what approach China would adopt to establish the appropriate facilities in its ports. After a seemingly long period of conjecture, it appears that today some solid facts are available to answer this question. Of no small significance amongst these is information obtained recently about China's "model" container terminal at Tianjin, which the article describes.
