LEASING'S SEVEN SISTERS STILL HOLD SWAY

Although still reeling from the effect of soaring interest rates, the seven US giants of the leasing business remain as bullish as ever. As of January 1, 1980 these companies between them controlled 40.2% of the world's container fleet. However, this is 1.8% less of the total than they enjoyed when Containerisation International last examined their performance over two years ago. Since then the ownership of three has changed, as have world trading conditions, but it has been the high cost of borrowing money, as much as anything else, that has clouded their horizons. The article is the result of a series of interviews with senior executives of the seven companies. Seven tables of statistics are included.
