LIGHT ALLOYS IN INDUSTRIAL VEHICLES AND REDUCED FUEL CONSUMPTION

In the construction of industrial vehicles ferrous metals can in part be substituted by light alloys, thus reducing weight and consequently fuel consumption. Other advantages include low maintenance costs and a high salvage factor. Based on the use of aluminium and aluminium alloys, this article presents calculations and comparisons of weight and fuel consumption with traditional steel structured vehicles. (TRRL)
