THE INFLUENCE OF TIME ON TRIP DISTRIBUTION - A SHORT-TERM FORECAST APPROACH

The model developed here deals with the problem of the influence of time on the trip distribution process. This model is suitable to traffic control systems in corridors or networks of motorways for updating the origin-destination patterns from measured flows. By the consideration of the dominant activities and the travel patterns dominance and time factors are obtained. A short-term forecast approach is developed with these factors in an appropriate gravity-type trip distribution model. Some possibilities of improvement on this approach are also discussed at the end of the paper. (TRRL) occurring at different times is also mentioned in this report.
