In this second part of the article legislation in Italy concerning the access and mobility of disabled persons with regard to public buildings, the standards and recommendations reviewed cover external provisions, pedestrian facilities, parking, access, platforms, ramps, stairs, corridors and passages, doors, floors, special areas, siting of offices, hygiene areas, lifts, public phones, and electrical control and signalling apparatus. Specific public buildings in Italy (airports, law courts, town hall, libraries, churches, sports and civic centres, and underground railway stations) are analyzed in terms of facility for the disabled, and compliance with the existing legislation. Two specially designed prototype vehicles (trolleybus and taxi) are also illustrated and briefly described.(TRRL)
