ICE ENGINEERING
A description of the Ice Engineering Facility at CRREL. The three main work areas in the facility are discussed. The research area, which is the only refrigerated hydraulic modelling laboratory in the world; the flume, where the formation of ice sheets, and frazil ice, particularly in relation to ice booms, can be studied; and, the test basin, where research is primarily concerned with "large scale work on ice forces on structures built in ice fields."
