GENERAL REVIEW OF THE NEW REGULATIONS COVERING SAFETY AND POLLUTION
This paper deals with the new measures and procedures, agreed at the Conference, to extend the requirements of the 1973 Marine Pollution Convention, and the 1974 Safety of Life at Sea Convention. The measures are included in Protocols to the parent Conventions and are considered under the three main headings: Design and Equipment; Inspection and Certification; and Procedural Arrangements. The paper provides an introduction and background to the new requirements and discusses the implications.
