DEPRECIATION OF CARS. THE DEPENDANCE OF THE DEPRECIATION ON ENVIRONMENT, MILEAGE AND TIME
BILARS VAERDEMINSKNING. VAERDEMINSKNINGENS BEROENDE AV MILJOE, KOERLAENGD OCH TID
The effect of age, mileage and a measure of road standard on vehicle depreciation was studied by means of newspaper advertisements for used cars. The study includes cars and commercial vehicles. About 1500 cars and 160 lorries are included in the material. For every vehicle the following data has been noted: make, model, mileage, price, exchange code, day of sale and type of transport. Two mathematical models have been adapted to the material. The results show that about one third of the total annual depreciation for cars depends on time. For the largest lorries about three quarters of the total annual depreciation depends on time and about one quarter depends on the mileage. (TRRL)
