METHOD OF CALCULATION OF THE EXTRACTION BEHAVIOUR OF PILES WITH THE NEW SPECIFICATIONS

METHODE DE CALCUL DU COMPORTEMENT DES PIEUX A L'ARRACHEMENT NOUVELLE REGLEMENTATION

The authors describe an application of their general computer program for piles in the case of extraction under applied vertical stress, and the corresponding experimental control. The calculation is carried out by the standard finite element method; the law of soil behaviour is isotropic linear elasticity. The new aspect of the calculation is the use of a soil/pile interface law of the Coulomb type (friction-sliding). Results are presented for the case of a homogeneous mass and a two-course system. Experimental controls are conducted in the test vat of the soils laboratory of the institut de mecanique, at grenoble. Special attention is paid to the influence of the construction method on the behaviour of the pile. Attention is drawn to the fact that, for this type of applied stress, the adoption of very simple assumptions for the soil (elasticity) and a conventional interface law (Coulomb) enables the pile behaviour to be described from small loads up to the limit extraction load.
