UTILITY, ENTROPY AND A "BRADOX" OF TRAFFIC FLOW ASPHALT MIXES

The relation between various derivations of the logit based route choice model and the associated benefit measures are explored in the light of another paradox of traffic flow highlighted recently by Sheffi and Daganzo. (TRRL) restraint has been developed, which may be carried out with the use of penetration apparatus modified for the creep test. The conditions for the investigation are given. Various apparatus and the important test-parameters (manufacture of the trial specimens, gauging, influence of temperature, form of compaction) were investigated. Creep-results from cores taken from heavily trafficked roads were considered. Further consideration of results from deformed surfacings are necessary before minimum requirements for creep-modulus may be proposed. Experience so far confirms the general concepts concerning mix composition. With the aid of creep investigations stable mixes can be designed even for the heaviest traffic.
