MEDICAL-PSYCHOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF THE EVALUATION OF DRIVING APTITUDE

MEDIZINISCH-PSYCHOLOGISCHE ASPEKTE BEI DER BEURTEILUNG DER FUEHRERTAUGLICHKEIT

The possibility of including more precise psychological examinations with the medical examinations of learner drivers is discussed, using concrete examples. Two examples show the increased reliability of a combined examination, because of the relations which result. A further example illustrates the usefulness of a psychiatrist's contribution for metal illness, and another case demonstrateds a conclusive assessment of driving aptitude by the doctor alone, by means of a driving test in the presence of a doctor. Three other cases highlight the possible consequences for driving aptitude evaluation which could arise from different considerations by doctors and authorities. (TRRL)
