SPLICING OF PRECAST CONCRETE PILES
Construction of bridges on the Cochin By-Pass of National Highway NH47 involved the driving of reinforced concrete piles up to 40 M long. The Kerala State Construction Corporation, who was entrusted with the work considered the possibility of using precast concrete piles with jointing done at site. A study was, therefore, undertaken to check and evaluate the methods of designing and testing the splicing of piles suitable for use in the prevailing site conditions. The results of the investigation are presented in the paper.(a) (TRRL)
