STATISTICAL ABSTRACT OF FIRE EXPERIENCE FOR LARGE CITIES

This Statistical Abstract summarizes the fire experience of U.S. cities with population greater than 50,000. The principal sources of data were the annual NFPA National Fire Experience Sample Survey and the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) for participating fire departments. Data are presented for the three most recent years for which information was available. There are 139 entries for each city greater than 100,000, which are presented in four separate subtables: (1) Total fires and losses, and structure fires; (2) Residential fires; (3) Non-residential structure fires and arson; (4) Other fire and non-fire incidents. For cities between 50,000 and 100,000 only sub-table (1) and most of sub-table (2) are presented.
