NATIONAL ACCIDENT SAMPLING SYSTEM
The national accident sampling system (NASS) is designed to collect and analyze data from a nationally representative sample of motor vehicle accidents. When the complete system is in operation, approximately 18,000 accidents will be selected annually by a carefully designed sample and data will be gathered by teams of accident investigators. The accidents will include passenger vehicle, truck, motorcycle, bicycle, and pedestrian involvements.
