U.S. agricultural imports and exports master file--coverage: worldwide, to and from the U.S., with the U.S. divided by customs districts, January 1965 to present. Status: verified. The trade history file, described in the preceding entry, is derived from the master file. Information in the master file is detailed and monthly for the most recent 2 years (with a 6 month lag). At the end of 2 years, the master file carries the data in 6 month summary form; detailed monthly information older than 2 years is transferred to the history file. Order number: 374-175. U.S. agricultural imports and exports statistics are derived from the foreign trade statistics program conducted by the Census Bureau. The program involves compilation and dissemination of a large body of data relating to U.S. imports and exports. The sources of information for imports are the import entry and warehouse withdrawal forms that importers are required to file with customs officials. The source of information for export shipments is the shipers export declaration (Commerce Form 7525-V) that exporters are required to file with customs officials. Import history: this file contains information on approximately 1700 agricultural or agricultural-related commodities imported by the U.S. (based on the 7-digit tariff schedules of the U.S. annotated code classification). Information is at the commodity, country, month, district of entry, district of unloading, rate provision, type, and economic class level of detail. Export history: this file contains information on approximately 800 agricultural or agricultural-related commodities exported by the U.S. (based on Commerce Schedule B classification). Information is at the commodity, country of destination, month, and customs district level. Files are updated semiannuallly.
