ANALYSIS OF AVIATION SAFETY INFORMATION, 1975

Methodological report analyzing general aviation and air carrier accident data used for measuring air safety. Examines differences between FAA and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) data files and correlations between activity measures and number of accidents. Includes 14 tables showing number of accidents and fatalities reported (FAA and NTSB files); correlations among total and fatal accidents, fatalities, hours and miles flown, operations, and active aircraft or passenger miles; and expected and actual accidents. Data are for 1969-73 for general aviation, and 1969-74 for air carriers.
