U.S. IMPORTS MERCHANDISE FOR CONSUMPTION AND GENERAL IMPORTS MERCHANDISE (MONTHLY). CEN/DF-73-026

A file of monthly summaries of data on United States merchandise imports for the year 1970 is presented. Tabulation is by its U.S.A. designation, country of origin, customs district of entry, rate provision, economic class, unloading district, total net quantity, mode of transportation, shipping weight, and value. Exclusions include gold, in-transit goods, intra-U.S. customs zone goods. Also no indications of final U.S. destination is given. Published reports are: U.S. General Imports, Imports for Consumption and general imports, U.S. Waterborne General Imports and Inbound In-Transit Shipments, and Highlights of U.S. Export and Import Trade. By laws, importers must file import entry and warehouse withdrawal forms with custom service. Census takes 100% sample of these forms for goods over $250 and 1% for goods under $250
