IMPACT OF COMMUTER AIRLINES IN SHORT-HAUL MAJOR HUB MARKETS

Biennial report on FY commuter airline share of short-haul passenger traffic at 23 major hub airports where they compete with certificated air carriers. Contents: narrative summary showing, for each hub, points within 200 miles served by certificated and/or commuter airlines, as of Jan 1. A similar report presented previous years data for 82 city pair markets. Tables: 1 thru 3--certificated and commuter airline service and traffic between major hubs and points within 200 (under 100, 100-199) miles. 4--number of points within 200 miles served by certificated carriers and commuter air carriers. 5--(number and) percent of passengers traveling less than 200 miles. 6--average daily passengers traveling less than 200 miles and commuter share of traffic. 7--estimated 1970 population within 200 miles of each major hub, population rank and passenger traffic rank. Data for commuter carriers are from form 298-C, schedule T-1 reports filed with the CAB. Data for certificated carriers are from CAB Origin-Destination Survey of Airline Passenger Traffic.
