RELIABILITY INVESTIGATION OF MILEAGE RECORDERS

UNDERSOEKNING AV DRIFTSAEKERHETEN HOS VAJERDRIVNA KILOMETERRAEKNARE AV MAERKENA HALDA PRINT OCH VDO

The aim of this investigation was to study if mileage recorders deteriorate with time and mileage and thus have to be changed. Approximately 800 recorders (average mileage of 400000 km) of the makes Halda and VDO were examined. The investigation comprises physical examination of recorders used on long distance driving, functional tests, statistical investigation of change frequency, studies of stamping reliability, connections and breakdowns. The report concludes that both makes are very reliable and that there is no need for compulsory changing of mileage recorders after a certain time or driving distance. (TRRL) clustering procedures; (2) variables used in the cluster analysis; (3) trade-off game instructions; and (4) notes to table 9.6. An extensive bibliography and index complete the work.
