HYDRODYNAMIC ANALYSIS OF TANKERS AT SINGLE POINT MOORING SYSTEMS

The slow motions of a tanker moored to a buoy are studied. The current loads and the wave drift loads on a ship are discussed in detail. New experimental results are presented and show encouraging agreement with theoretical values. The current loads are presented for drift angles between 0' and 180' and for different wave lengths. An asymptotic theory for wave drift loads on a structure in regular waves of small wave lengths is presented.
