PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BEAMS WITH CONFINED COMPRESSION ZONES

A method is proposed for the flexural analysis of prestressed concrete beams with confined compression zones. The method is found to give satisfactory results in the case of eight prestressed concrete beams tested in the laboratory. Using the proposed method, an analytical study has been made to determine the influence of prestressing steel, non-tensioned bottom and top steels and confinement index on the moment-curvature characteristics, ultimate moments, and ultimate curvatures of confined prestressed concrete beam sections.(a) (TRRL)
