BLADE-RATE FORCE FLUCTUATIONS OF A PROPELLER IN NON-UNIFORM FLOW
When a propeller rotates in a non-uniform flow field, unsteady propeller forces are generated at blade-rate frequency and its harmonics. A method of calculating these forces based upon two-dimensional unsteady aerofoil theory is described. A listing of a FORTRAN program to carry out these calculations is provided, together with a numerical example, and information about using the program. It is believed that this technique is a satisfactory compromise, achieving adequate accuracy with minimal computing cost; its use is recommended as a regular design tool. (Author)
