EVALUATION OF DIFFERENT KINDS OF SNOW FENCES

VURDERING AV FORSKJELLIGE SNOESKJERMTYPER

The report is revision of an earlier article by Norem and Andersen on snow fences. Particular emphasis has been put on description and proposal for design of fence foundations. The report concludes that wood fences are most econbomical as permanent fences. Three different designs of wood fences have been prepared. The type to choose depends on the amount of snow in the fence area, as well as the forces that the fences will be subjected to. Fences of aluminium, steel-mesh, and paraweb are also discussed. It is only when particular consideration regarding weight and appearance has to be taken that it will be relevant to use the latter types. (TRRL)
