Highlights: (1) In repetitive hazard awareness (HA) learning trainees are repeatedly exposed to the same hazards scenario; (2) Repetitive learning method facilitates acquisition of HA; (3) Both trained young-inexperienced and experienced drivers improve their HA skills; (4) Both trained groups showed a transference effect compared to an untrained group; and (5) Materialized hazards had a stronger training effect on the young-inexperienced drivers.
