ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS OF URBAN ROAD TRAFFIC. REPORT OF STUDY

The report is concerned with a study of the environmental effects of urban road traffic. The object of the project was to develop techniques designed to allow the assessment of the environmental effects of alternative transport policies and traffic management schemes. The report is based on previous papers which included information on environmental problems in Kensington and Chelsea. The material is further developed to cover the following objectives: (1) to provide an overview of the state-of-the-art, (2) to provide an assessment of the logic and process of model development to facilitate the application of models, (3) to discuss policies and plans which the models might test, and (4) to discuss the 'evaluation' context within which the models might be applied.
