Missouri Transportation by the Numbers: Meeting the State's Need for Safe, Smooth and Efficient Mobility

This report investigates the condition and safety of the bridges, highways and roads of Missouri. It finds that 24% of Missouri roads are in poor condition and 3,086 bridges are structurally deficient. Also examined are traffic congestion, traffic safety, and transportation funding. Annual cost of congestion in wasted fuel and value of lost time is estimated to be $2.4 billion. In addition, there were 4,163 traffic fatalities in Missouri from 2012-2016. The report recommends increased funding to improve the physical condition of Missouri's transportation network to improve mobility, safety, create jobs, and stimulate long-term economic growth.
