SUPPLEMENTARY SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION, GREENBELT ROUTE, SECTIONS E004 AND E005
Results are summarized of a group of twelve deep test borings of the Washington Metropolitan Area Metro system made in the general area of Fort Totten Park and Station. The exploration was carried out to investigate conditions at deep tunnel alternatives in an area where Cretaceous soils lie directly above weathered bedrock. The report includes geological sections taken along the line of the proposed subway structures through the new borings, logs of the test borings, results of laboratory tests on soil samples and comments on potential design and construction problems for the alternative tunnel locations.
