A REVIEW OF PASSENGER TRANSPORTATION IN WESTERN CANADA

The study, which was designed along similar lines to the Atlantic region intermodal passenger study, has three overall objectives. These are (a) to consolidate the existing information on intercity passenger transportation in the region to provide a data base (b) to assess the adequacy of intercity passenger transportation in the region of an inter-modal basis, and to identify any major problems and issues and (C) to identify the relative financial, ecological, land use, social, economic and energy conservation implications associated with a broad range of approaches for resolving any major problems or issues. The study was designed in two phases. The initial phase, addressing the first objective and part of the second objective, was carried out by the working group during 1978 and early 1979. (TRRL)
