STRUCTURAL PROTECTION AND FIRE PROTECTION CLADDINGS
Structural fire protection, as the expression implies, is protection of the structure of an offshore platform from the harmful effects of a fire. In this chapter an attempt is made to explain in simple terms why such protection is necessary and desirable, how the protection can be achieved and what official and other requirements have to be complied with. The author also gives his views on testing of fireproofing materials, types of materials available and details of how some materials are applied in practice.
