ACCESS ROADS TO TOWNS
ACCESOS EN LA CIUDAD
Taking the town of Barcelona as reference town, the author analyzes traffic problems in large urban areas, internal and external mobility of the population, length of journeys made in private cars, average accessibility of urban zones, and the influence of special attraction centres (hypermarkets, football stadiums, etc) located near access roads to a town. A detailed study is presented of the hourly, weekly and monthly fluctuation in traffic on the Castelldefels Motorway. Short- and long-term remedial measures are proposed.
